How much does it cost to build?
A good rule of thumb for 2012 construction costs is $200/square foot. If you can be your own general contractor that can come down below $175. We have a couple of families who have done much of the construction themselves at still much lower costs. If you want all the bells and whistles such as granite, jetted tubs, hot tubs, stainless kitchens etc. then a better estimating number could be $250 per sf. We encourage a little more on beauty and less on stylish frills.
